If you served at least one day of active military duty during the dates below and were honorably

discharged or are still serving honorably, you are eligible to join!

  • April 6, 1917 to Novemer 11, 1918 (World War 1)
  • December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (World War II)
  • June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955  (Korean War)
  • February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975  (Vietnam War)
  • August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984 (Lebanon/Grenada)
  • December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990 (Operation Just Cause - Panama)
  • August 2, 1990 to today  (Operation Desert Shield/Storm)

     

    Please contact Bill Morgan, any Post 34 officer, or ask for a membership application at our Post.  Current yearly membership dues are $30.00

 Sons of the American Legion
  • To be eligible, you must be a male descendant (includes stepsons and adopted sons) of a member of The American Legion. 

 

  • You would also be eligible to join the Sons of The American Legion if you are the male descendant (stepsons and adopted sons included) of a veteran who died in service during World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, or the Persian Gulf War. See specific time period listed above under the American Legion eligibility dates.

  • You would also be eligible to join the Sons of The American Legion if you are the male descendant (stepsons and adopted sons included) of a veteran who died subsequent to his or her honorable discharge from service in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, or the Persian Gulf War (same specific time periods listed above).

 The American Legion Auxiliary
  • A woman who is eligible for membership in The American Legion is also eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary.

  • The mother, wife, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion, and deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the listed war eras.

  • Step relatives are also eligible.  

Eligibility Dates

  • April 6, 1917 - Nov. 11, 1918 (World War I)

  • Dec. 7, 1941 - Dec. 31, 1946 (World War II) June 25, 1950 - Jan. 31, 1955 (Korean War)

  • Feb. 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War)

  • Aug. 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984 (Grenada/Lebanon)

  • Dec. 20, 1989 - Jan. 31, 1990 (Panama)

  • Aug. 2, 1990 to cessation of hostilities (Persian Gulf)
